Doosan Corporation is partnering with Hai Duong province of Vietnam to create new business opportunities based on the corporate’s advanced electro-material manufacturing technology.

Doosan Corporation announced that the company signed an MOU with Hai Duong province of Vietnam, in Hanoi, Vietnam, to enhance cooperation on electro-materials business. The signing event, as part of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s visit to Vietnam, was attended by South Korea’s Trade, Industry, and Energy Minister Lee Chang Yang, Doosan Corporation Electro-Materials BG CEO Yoo Seung-Woo, and Head of Hai Duong Province Trieu The Hung .

Under the agreement, Doosan Corporation plans to expand its patterned flat cable (PFC) manufacturing facility located in Hai Duong province, Vietnam and consider further investment, contributing to job creation and growth of local economy. Meanwhile, Hai Duong province plans to support Doosan Corporation with tax benefits so that the company can make smooth investment progress.

Doosan Corporation established a subsidiary in Vietnam in 2020 and completed a PFC manufacturing facility last October. PFC is a next generation electro material which can substitute conventional wiring harness, which is essential for many parts of EVs including battery pack, door, roof, seats, and other automotive cable. Use of PFC can save more than 80 percent of weight and volume of copper-based wiring harness, supporting weight reduction, cost reduction and increased mileages. Doosan PFC is getting more and more attention as weight reduction is one of critical tasks to tackle in the automotive industry.

“There were difficulties hit by the Covid-19 pandemic right after foundation of the subsidiary. But the production line was successfully established thanks to our local employees’ efforts. Expecting high growth of PFC in the mobility sector, we will secure competitiveness through cooperation with Hai Duong province”, Doosan Corporation Electro-Materials BG CEO Yoo Seung-Woo said.
